Your bridal alterations experince

consists of three personal sessions.

  • 1. Bridal Consult & Fitting

At your first consult you will try on your bridal gown and shoes. You can choose the desired type and level of support for your bosom and then we will get your dress pinned towards your dream fit at your bodice and hem. Be sure to bring your shoes so we can mark your hem! Desired customizations or veils will get designed together for you to try on at your next appointment.

    Average Time: 90 mins

  • 2. Bridal Fit Check

At your second apointment we will ensure the fit is as desired and you will try on any customizations. If you have a lot of customizations, we may choose to scheduale an extra fitting at this time. If any changes are desired we will note those adjustments. Now that your gown is hemmed to your height, we will choose a bustle together that complements your gown.

    Average Time: 90 mins

  • 3. Bridal Pick-up

At your pick-up you can bring any accessories to try on with your gown to ensure everything is perfect. You are encouraged to bring a supportive member of your party to learn how to assist you with your bustle on your weding day. Unless of course you booked our Day-Of Dressing Service! Your Gown will be lightly steamed, advice will be given on how to transport and care for your gown. In addition, we will send you home with a small gift.

    Average Time: 30-45 mins

Four Common Questions

  • 1. How do we book and schedule fittings?

After you submit your inquiry HERE you will receive an estimate by email within 48 hours . After you review and accept the estimate you can contact me by phone, text or email to book your fittings. Your first fitting will likely be scheduled around 8-12 weeks prior to your wedding.  Bridal fittings are usually spaced about a month apart with gown pick-up approximately 1-2 weeks before your wedding.
Bridal fittings for April-September weddings fill up quickly, so once your dates are set, it can become difficult to reschedule them.  As soon as we have scheduled your fittings, please let your fiancé, family and friends know, so that any surprise plans can be made around them. We do not want to conflict with bridal showers, bachelorette parties etc.
If you are actively loosening /gaining  weight, or are pregnant, aim be as close to your goal size and shape by this first scheduled fitting.  Obviously, pregnancy will require flexibility. Please let me know so we can schedule fittings closer to the wedding to account for that.

  • 2. How should I prepare and what should I bring?

The only things you need to bring are your dress and shoes. If shoes are forgotten we will need to reschedule. We want your hem perfect!
You need to bring your ACTUAL SHOES.
Your hem is usually marked at your first fitting. Please bring the shoes you plan to wear with your gown as the length of your gown is completely dependent on the height of your shoes. Once the length is marked and altered, changing shoes will require further alterations and extra charges to you.
Keep in mind that you will be standing still for an extended time. Please consider eating a nutrient rich meal/snack and drinking water before you come. No bride wants to almost or actually pass out due to the perfect combination of nerves, low blood sugar and standing still in new shoes and a warm multi layered dress.

  • 3. Should I buy undergarments before I come?

Optimally I prefer to structure your gown to support you on its own! In some cases I provide other solutions such as a longline bra or adhesive coverage when for budget or aestetic reasons we do not want to add further support to the gown. If however, you already have undergarments you are considering wearing you will need to bring those.
*I offer support wear NOT shape wear. As a general rule I do not recommend shape wear unless you have a lot of very heavy rolls that you feel the need to support and smooth. In the majority of situations, shape wear instead shapes extra skin up into the waist adding inches to the waist and reducing the body’s natural curves. This is why I prefer to flatter with dress structure and adequate breast support.

  • 4.When and how do I pay?

We currently accept cash or check. A deposit of $65 or up to half of expected estimate is encouraged at your first appointment.  Aulita design may hold your gown as security until payment for alterations are made in full or until your check has cleared. Once you make the final payment and take your dress, we assume you are satisfied with it. If you try it on at a later date and feel it needs altering again, we would consider that as starting over and new charges will occur.  This being said, we understand that there are all kinds of circumstances that may arise after you take your gown home. We offer a 20% DISCOUNT ON RE-ALTERATIONS DUE TO weight loss/gain, change of shoes (heel height), and change of mind on previously agreed procedure.
